The barcode scanner must be set up to emulate keystrokes with a return at end. This is the default setting for most barcode scanners. You can test this in a program that accepts keyboard input. For example Word or a web page. After a scan of a barcode it show should show the contents of the barcode, and a return (line feed) at end. There is no setup of the barcode scanner in iPacky. Look up the manual for your barcode scanner if any problems.

Tips and tricks

In the Settings page on the menu you can set Turn off tooltips.

After you have used iPacky for a while you can remove the tooltips to avoid unnecessary info on screen.

In the Settings page on the menu you can set Sort order lines on.

Here you can set how to sort the order lines:

Default: No sorting.
Name: Sort by product name.
SKU: Sort by SKU.

If the ordered quantity is high and you dont want to scan each item, you can for example scan the item once to check that it's the right product, and then click on the edit icon on that order line to set the quantity scanned.

Also very useful if the product does not have a barcode.

In the Settings page on the menu you can set Only allow scans to be numeric.

Especially useful on touch devices so that the on-screen keyboard only shows numeric keys.

In the Settings page on the menu you can set Font size magnify in order lines from 0 (standard) to 3 (big). This will be applied to the order lines.

Very useful when looking at the screen from a distance while scanning.

This will not apply to small screen widths such as mobile or tablet in portrait mode. In addition it might scale down this value on some devices.

Under Settings there is an option called Accept keyboard/barcode scans outside the input field.

When this is turned on you can click outside the input field on the scan screen. The on screen keyboard will then disappear, but it will still accept input from barcode reader and external keyboard. THis way you will see much more of the order details.

In the Settings page on the menu you can set Barcode text for setting scan quantity to ordered quantity.

You then need to make a barcode with this text and print it out.

After that you can scan th product on an order line to make sure it's correct, and then scan this barcode with your barcode scanner to complete the scans for this order line. Very useful when the line quantity is high.
